Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) had said that the current international terminal would be used had the domestic terminal after the development of the new international terminal is completed at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA).
The new terminal is to beer built next to the current international terminal and is set to begin within the year according to MACL.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the walkway between the two terminals today, the Managing Director of MACL, Adhil Moosa said that the change would solve the space problem at the (current) domestic terminal.
He said that the transfer of the office at the land of the new terminal would also be completed soon.
Contracted to Maldives Transport and Contacting Company (MTCC), a total of 12 buildings are set to be moved to the eastern side of Hulhulé.
Adhil said that the airport development project would be officially inaugurated on 6 April and the ceremony would be held at Dharubaaruge.
