MP Mahloof released

MP for the South Galolhu constituency, Ahmed Mahloof has been released from house arrest.

Police arrested Mahloof last Friday after the opposition MDP’s protest rally.

The official Police Twitter said that the MP was arrested for attacking a Police Officer.

But the next day at Mahloof’s remand hearing, Police said that he was arrest for aiding and abetting a suspect.

Talking to the press after being released at the Criminal Court, MP Mahloof said that there is no evidence that he attacked a Police Officer.

And said that there is no proof that he helped a suspect flee and he has not done anything like that.

“On that day, things went bad when a Police officer started spraying pepper spray to people’s faces without a reason. Can’t show any evidence. Then saying I hid someone. I wasn’t aware that someone hid at the protest.” Mahloof said.
