Stelco has said that no further electricity issues would come up in Hulhumale’, as they begin using the two additional generators loaned by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
MACL has provided two 1,250 kilowatt generators on a temporary basis.
Stelco media coordinator Ibrahim Rauf spoke to “Sun” on Thursday and said that the two generators had been tested and was now ready for use.
“There will be no more power cuts like before,” said Rauf.
Electricity issues arose in Hulhumale’ when the 1,500 megawatt generator used faced problems while the other 1,500 megawatt generator was being overhauled.
Rauf said that it would take about 6 weeks for the two generators by Stelco to be brought to Hulhumale’. He said that they were working on bringing additional generators to accommodate the additional housing flats in the island.
Citizens of Hulhumale’ have been suffering power outages in the island for over a month.
