Malé “Hukuru Miskiy” to reopen next month

Heritage Department has said that they are trying to reopen the Malé “Hukuru Miskiy” (Friday Mosque) which was closed in November for renovations.

Director General of the Heritage Department, Hawwa Nazla told Sun Media today that the renovations and termite extermination at the mosque has been completed.

“With the help from the Maldives Scout Association, the stones at the base of the mosque has been washed. What is remaining is the wood work.” Nazla said.

She said that the renovations of the mosque were done by the artistic employees of the Heritage Department.

The mosque was closed last November after a termite problem arose.
