2 additional generators to be made operational in Hulhumale

Two generators from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) have been sent to Hulhumale’ and will be made operational on Wednesday to solve the electricity outage problem facing the island.

MACL has provided two 1,250 kilowatt generators on a temporary basis.

Stelco media coordinator Ibrahim Rauf spoke to “Sun” and said that the two generators would be made operational on Wednesday. And that it would provide a solution to the problem facing Hulhumale’.

“It was taken there at midnight, two nights back. It is being installed now. We will be able to get it done and make it operational today,’ said Rauf.

Rauf said that it would take about 6 weeks for the two generators by Stelco to be brought to Hulhumale’. He said that they were working on bringing additional generators to accommodate the additional housing flats in the island.

Citizens of Hulhumale’ have been suffering power outages in the island for over a month.
