The government took initiative with the talks to create a trustworthy atmosphere to work towards the benefit of the people with sincerity and so has advised MDP to take part in the talks.

Government began the official talks without the leading opposition MDP and Adhaalath Party on 2 March.

PPM, Jumhooree Party (JP), MDA and DRP accepted the government’s invitation and is moving forward with the talks.

The four parties said that the discussions of the political parties are crucial to the development, safety and security of the people.
