MP Azim convicted of obstructing Police duties and fined with MVR 3000

MP for the Mid-Henveiru constituency, Ali Azim has been convicted of obstructing Police duties and fined with MVR 3000.

Charges were brought up against MP Azim for refusing to leave the area at the protest held on 22 February 2015 after a group of people through rocks into the Police line.

The sentence by the Criminal Court today said that witness testimonies prove him guilty. And so under the Police Law, he was fined with MVR 3000.

Talking to the press after his sentencing, MP Azim said that he does not accept that sentence and would be appealing at the High Court.
