BML employee arrested for misuse of customer account information

An employee of Bank of Maldives has been arrested for misuse of information on a customer’s bank account.

“Sun” has been informed that the arrested employee is Manager of BML F. Nilandhoo Branch, Qasim Abdul Kareem.

Police media official has confirmed to “Sun” that an arrest had been made in relation to the case.

BML media official spoke to “Sun” on Monday and said that the bank had reported the issue to police, after it came to light that one of their employees had misused information on one of their customer’s bank account.

The BML official said that it was one of the biggest priorities of the bank to maintain confidentiality. And that the bank had set rules and regulations for its employees to maintain the confidentiality.

The official said that the bank would not hesitate in penalizing employees that violated the rules.
