Councilman cleared of trying to attack police officer

Criminal Court on Monday cleared N. Holhudhoo Island Council member Hussein Haseeb of allegedly trying to attack police officers during opposition protest in Male’ City on May 1, 2015.

State prosecutor said that Haseeb had tried to break through police barricades and hurled rocks and water bottles at police officers.

Criminal Court ruled that State prosecution had not been able to prove through witness testimony that Haseeb had hurled rocks and water bottles at police officers.
