Maumoon Hameed, Ali Zahir warned by Criminal Court

Criminal Court summoned Attorney Maumoon Hameed and Deputy Leader of Adhaalath Party and issued them a verbal warning.

Maumoon said that he was warned for what he tweeted in reaction to the 12-year jail sentence meted out to Adhaalath Party Leader Iran Abdulla.

“I was summoned to court and told that it was regarding a decision made by the court. And that it was not in any case a discussion meeting,” said Maumoon.

Ali Zahir said that he was summoned to court and told not be besmirch the name of the court.

“I have never said anything to besmirch the reputation of the court,” said Ali Zahir.

He said that the party would appeal the jail sentence, and go everything legally possible to free Imran.
