Two employees of G. Dh. Thinadhoo Powerhouse have been arrested over the fire that burnt down the Powerhouse, damaging the three generators used to power the island beyond repair and plunging the whole island into darkness.
A member of Thinadhoo Island Council has confirmed the arrests to “Sun”.
Police said that 44-year-old and 28-year-old Maldivians were arrested on Sunday afternoon in relation to the case.
The fire burnt down Thinadhoo Powerhouse on January 26, leaving the island without electricity for 5 days.
