Amess: Nasheed was in prison in a comfortable place

The Chairman of the British-Maldives All Party Parliamentary Group and MP of the British Conservative Party, Sir David Amess has said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed was staying in Maafushi Prison at a very comfortable place.

Speaking at a press conference at Mookai Suites today, Sir Amess said that he visited the prison and inspected the Ex-President’s cell himself.

Amess said that that they have visited the Maafushi Prison and observed the cell for the Ex-President Mohamed Nasheed. He said that the former President was incarcerated in a comfortable cell compared to all the prisons they have visited in the UK and the President was treated well.

Sir David Amess said that the APPG has also met with the Economic Minister and the Tourism Minister and the Maldives is not perceived well in the international community. And so the British MP condemned the allegations of the most terrorists as per the population and 1800 political prisoners in the Maldives.
