Customs seize about a kilo of drugs smuggled by a Bangladeshi national

Maldives Customs has said that they have seized about a kilo of drugs from a Bangladeshi national that arrived in the Maldives from Dhaka via Colombo.

The Customs website said today that 817 grams of cannabis was seized from a 33-year-old man on 16 January.

Customs said that the drugs were found in polythene during the search of his luggage after a suspicious item was found during the x-ray.

The custody of the drugs and the smuggler has now been handed over to the Maldives Police Service.

A large quantity of drugs was also seized at the airport by the Customs in February as well.
