Police have decided to complete investigation into explosion onboard presidential speedboat “Finifenma” at a fast pace and sent it to Prosecutor General’s Office as soon as possible.
“Sun” has been informed that a large part of the investigation has now been completed.
Police have arrested all suspects in the case, including former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor as well as high-ranking military officers.
“Sun” has it in confidence that a bodyguard has provided a lot of intel needed by police to investigate the case.
Co-Chair of National Inquiry Commission – set up by President Abdulla Yameen to investigate the explosion – Home Minister Umar Naseer has said that it was an assassination attempt on the President. And that there was sufficient evidence to implicate Adeeb in the case.
The explosion onboard the presidential speedboat on September 28, 2015 left the President unhurt, but resulted in injuries to First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim’s back.
She was sitting in the chair normally used by President.
