South Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof has plead innocent to impeding police from performing their duty.
He made the plea during hearing held at Criminal Court on Wednesday.
The charge against him reads that Mahloof had refused repeated instructions by officers to get on the police vehicle after his remand hearing at around 7 pm on April 3, 2015, and had tried to flee the police.
During the hearing, Mahloof said that he was not one to flee, and asked for the opportunity to prove it.
Mahloof’s lawyer, Abdulla Haseen also asked the judge for the opportunity to present evidence to disprove the charge against Mahloof.
Judge Ibrahim Ali ended the trial after granting Mahloof the opportunity to make his case.
