President offers to share bank account details with ACC

President Abdulla Yameen has offered to share his bank account details with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to assist them in their investigation.

Islamic Bank has refused to reveal details of President Yameen’s bank account to ACC and has filed a civil lawsuit against them.

President’s Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali tweeted on Monday night that President wanted to share the information required with ACC.

Islamic Bank has not made any statement regarding the President’s decision.

It is unclear at this point what exactly ACC is investigating.

However, rival politicians have been alleging that some of the MVR 1.22 billion pocketed from money that should have gone into Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporations (MMPRC) had also gone into one of President Yameen’s bank accounts.
