Liquor warehouses being shifted to Hulhumale

Liquor warehouses in Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) are being shifted to Hulhumale’.

Senior Superintendent of Customs Service, Ahmed Niyaz spoke to “Sun” on Thursday and said that they had started work on shifting the liquor warehouses to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) Port in Hulhumale’.

“All security measures will be established there before the liquor is shifted there,” said Niyaz.

Niyaz said that once all the liquor warehouses are shifted to Hulhumale’, all liquor required by resorts would have to be taken from there.

The project is being carried out through collaboration between Customs and MPL.

MPL CEO Ibrahim Shareef said that the project would be complete by March.

Areef spoke to “Sun” and said that the decision to shift all liquor warehouses in INIA to Hulhumale’ had been so the space could be used to build a new runway and expand the terminal.
