The harbor of N. Kudafari has been officially opened today.
At a special ceremony held this evening, the harbor was opened by the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
The project was contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on 17 February 2014. The MVR 31 million project harbor is 200 ft. by 500 ft.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom said that N. Atoll is a special atoll for him and development projects would be continued in all the islands as the budget allows. And he said that the Government wants to complete old projects started in the islands and develop the whole country.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Leader of the Government Coalition party MDA, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed said that there is a treasonous group of people publicly working to destroy the country. But the people of the country would not allow such actions and President Yameen’s government would show the country development.
Siyam, also the MP for the Meedhoo constituency, said that the government is conducting many development projects in the N. Atoll and in the future, an airport would be built in the atoll.
MP Siyam, Environment Minister, Thoriq Ibrahim and the CEO of MTCC, Haleem were in attendance at the ceremony at Kudafari today along with other high ranking officials of the government.
