Members of CMAG and European Parliament meet with President Yameen

A delegation of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) and the European Parliament has met with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The President’s Office did not release any details of the meeting that took place at President’s Office today.

The delegation is led by CMAG Vice-Chair Carl Greenidge and Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guyana, Carolyn Rodrigues Birkett; and includes Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Kenya - Dr Amina Mohamed, and Foreign Secretary of India - Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The delegation is to stay in Maldives for two days. And will be assessing the political situation in Maldives during their stay.

The delegation will also be meeting high-ranking Maldivian government officials – including People’s Majlis Speaker, Abdulla Maseeh.
