Preparations begin to shift children to Hulhumale Children’s Shelter

Gender Ministry has started preparations to shift children staying at Vilimale’ Children’s Shelter to the newly built Children’s Shelter in Hulhumale’.

An official from Gender Ministry spoke to “Sun” and said that children under 9 years of age would be shifted to Hulhumale’ Children’s Shelter.

The official said that they had not set an exact date for the shift yet, and that they were cleaning up the place in preparation at the moment.

Children’s Shelter in Hulhumale’ was built through the generous donation of Mahmoud al-Haja from United Arab Emirates, on the land next to Lale School.

The shelter has 12 rooms and has the capacity to accommodate 129 children.

Male and female children will be kept separate at the shelter.

Gender Ministry said that around 50 children would be shifted to Hulhumale’ Children’s Shelter, and that everything to do with schooling and any other service they require would be arranged without a hiccup.

The shelter will be officially opened in February.
