Three people have been charged in the attempted murder of the Ex-President Mohamed Nasheed’s lawyer, Mahfooz Saeed.
And official from the Prosecutor General’s Office said that the three people who were charged are Raaid Ahmed, Khalid Nafeeu and Firaz Jaufar.
The three people were charged with conspiracy to commit murder. They were charged under Article 5-E of the Act against threats and carrying dangerous weapons.
Khalid Nafeeu and Firaz Jaufar were charged with accessories to the crime. The cases against the three people were sent to Court today.
Interpol has a red notice out to find the the fourth suspect in the case, 23-year-old Shafraz Ibrahim (R. Inguraidhoo.) Police say that he has still not been found.
Lawyer Mahfooz was treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and a hospital in Sri Lanka for the serious head would he sustained in the attack last September.
The knife he was stabbed two inch deep in the side of the head was removed after a three-hour operation.
