Two MDP members voted against the no-confidence motion on Shahid

It has been revealed that Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Rasheed and Komandoo MP Hussain Waheed voted against the no-confidence motion on Speaker of Parliament Abdullah Shahid at the Parliament today.

Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Rasheed was one of the 27 MDP members who endorsed the motion; and Komandoo MP Hussain Waheed spoke on the issue at today’s Parliament meeting.

The two members who abstained are also from MDP - Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed and Milandhoo MP Ali Riza. Ali Riza was one of the members who endorsed the motion.

While 36 votes were required to pass the motion, only 25 MPs voted in favour, and 45 MPs voted against it at today’s meeting where 72 MPs were present.
