Maldives receives Seafood Champion Award

Maldives Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has received Seafood Champion Award for Advocacy.

The award, which was handed out during SeaWeb Seafood Summit being held in Malta, was accepted on behalf of government by Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, Hussein Shinan.

The award is handed out to encourage, promote and celebrate individuals and organizations that advocate for sustainable and environment friendly fishing.

Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has said that the award was the result of acceptance of work being put under guidance of Fisheries Promotion Board to find market and opportunity for products of the sustainable and environment friendly fisheries industry of Maldives, in the international platform.

The institution said that it was a huge achievement, and a matter of pride for hardworking fishermen of Maldives.

The award is handed out in four categories; leadership, innovation, vision and advocacy.
