Hulhumalé ferry collision at sea

A collision has taken place between ann MTCC Hulhumalé ferry travelling from Malé a cargo boat.

No one was injured in the incident that took place around 10:07 p.m. tonight.

Operations Manager of the MTCC Hulhumalé Ferry Service, Mohamed Nazim told Sun Media tonight that the incident took place when the cargo boat collided with the MTCC ferry “Niyaama 5” while the ferry was entering the Hulhumalé lagoon.

“Passengers and (motor)cycles weren’t damaged. A beam of Niyaama 5 was broken.” Nazim said.

Collisions involving MTCC ferries between Malé and Hulhumalé do takes place from time to time.
