L. Atoll Councilor involved in capsized dinghy has passed away

Maavashu councilor at the L. Atoll Council, Mohamed Abdul Rahman, who drowned in the capsizing of a Maavashu dinghy out fishing, has passed away.

Police Media Official told Sun Media tonight that “Councilor Mohamed, when he was taken to L. Gan Regional Hospital, was dead on arrival according to the doctos.”

Police said that the incident reported to the Police at 8:50 p.m. tonight took place after the two men attempted to swim back to the island after their dinghy capsized while out fishing.

Sources say that the second man onboard the dinghy when it capsized was his father-in-law. He is in good condition.

Sun Media Correspondent in L. Gan, Ali Waafir reports that the funeral arrangements for the late councilor are being made at his birthplace of L. Maavashu and arrangements are being made now to transfer the body.
