Thinadhoo resumes normal state

After a mass electricity blackout following a fire at the island’s powerhouse on Monday night, G. Dh. Thinadhoo has returned to normalcy.

The island’s electricity service was resumed at 6 p.m. yesterday with the one megawatt generator taken to the island on Friday.

Member of the Thinadhoo Island Council, Saudu Ali told Sun Media tonight that the island has returned to it’s normal state since the electricity service resumed yesterday. He said that they are still delivering the donations made to the island during the electrical blackout.

Pricipal of the G. Dh. Atoll Education Center, Zeema Abdulla said that the schools of the island was reopened today and resumed to normal conduct since the electricity service has resumed.

A high ranking official from the FENAKA Corporation for Thinadhoo told Sun Media tonight that 24-hour electricity has been resumed to Thinadhoo since 6 p.m. yesterday. He said that a second 1.4 megawatt generator would be brought to the island tonight to increase electrical capacity of the island.

The people of Thinadhoo were in distress after the mass blackout especially with the challenges with sleeping at night and cleanliness. The five days of the Thinadhoo blackout was spent in lamp and candle light.
