Lawyer: Might take 6 months for Nasheed’s medical treatment

Convicted former Maldivian president Mohamed Nasheed’s lawyer Hassan Latheef has said that it might take six months for Nasheed to be done with his medical treatment and fully recover.

Hassan Latheef said that Nasheed was handling his medical treatment under advisement of British Prime Minister David Cameron.

“It might take about 6 months to complete President Nasheed’s medical treatment and for him to fully recover,” said Hassan Latheef.

Hassan said that Nasheed had a consultation with his doctor on Thursday, and that government authorities would be updated on his condition as soon as offices opened on Sunday.

He said that Maldives Correctional Service would be kept abreast of Nasheed’s condition as had been agreed.

Nasheed travelled to UK for his medical treatment on January 21.

He needs to undergo a back surgery.
