Gabbe sets sail for journey around Maldives

Abdul Gafoor Ali (Gabbe) on Sunday morning started his ambitious journey to sail around Maldives in a Topcat catamaran within 21 days.

Gabbe set said at around 10:30 from Izzuddin Jetty.

He is scheduled to make maximum one hour stops at 21 islands during his journey.

Gabbe said that Maldives was a country blessed with more ocean than land, and that he wanted to promote Maldivian tourism.

“I am very well prepared for this journey. God willing, I will succeed in this,” said Gabbe.

Gabbe’s journey will be well-documented; with his location visible throughout via satellite, and with a team of officers from Coastguard shadowing him.
