Ex-President Nasheed: Treatment would take days

Former President Mohamed Nasheed visiting the UK on a medical trip has said that according to his doctors, his treatment would take days.

President Nasheed’s official website said that the former President consulted a specialist doctor today who said that his treatment would take days and thanked the British Prime Minister David Cameron for his assistance to the treatment.

The former President who was serving a 13-year prison sentence following a terrorism conviction was given a period of 30 days for his medical treatment.

Home Minister Umar Naseer previously said that if President Nasheed’s doctors advise him to remain abroad for treatment, he would be given permission to do so but the longest he can be away is 45 days.
