Postmortem of body of Hawwa Zuha from L. Gan – who was found dead on the street – has been done in India.
Police media official spoke to “Sun” and said that postmortem had been done in a hospital in India on Wednesday, but did not say when the results would become available.
He said that Zuha’s body would be brought back to Maldives as soon as possible, and buried after coordination with her family.
Zuha’s mother Naeema Mohamed spoke to “Sun” and said that her daughter had been strangled, and that Zuha’s thighs showed signs that someone had held her very tightly.
Zuha had been discovered lying unresponsive inside an alley on Galolhu Dhoohimeri Magu on January 7. Doctors said she was dead when her body was brought to the hospital.
Two people were arrested in relation to the case on January 9; a 28 year-old Maldivian man and a 50 year-old Maldivian woman. Criminal Court has extended period of detention for both the suspects as police investigate the case.
