President Abdulla Yameen has sent a message of sympathy to governments of Turkey and Pakistan after bomb blasts in Sultan Ahmed District in Turkey and Quetta City in Pakistan caused scores of death and injury to bystanders.
In separate letters addressed to Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain and President of Turkey Recep Tayyib Erdogan, President Yameen said that he was deeply shocked and saddened to receive news of the bomb blasts.
President Yameen condemned the attacks and said that the country remained steadfast in the fight against terrorism.
He also said that the government and people of Maldives were united in conveying deepest sympathy to the government and people of Turkey and Pakistan, especially the bereaved families.
Since the bomb blast in Pakistan occurred outside a polio center in Quetta City, it is believed that it was instigated by extremists who are against giving children vaccine.
