Adheeb questioned in suspicion of taking bribes from resort developers

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has questioned the former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor in suspicion of taking bribes from resort developers that had islands and lagoons leased by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

The former Vice President was questioned sometime this afternoon at the Police detention island, Dhoonidhoo in the presence of his lawyer.

While Adheeb was suspected of taking bribes from resort developers, he was also questioned in suspicion of offering bribes to resort developers as well.

In response to the questions from the ACC, Adheeb had said that he neither offer nor take bribes.

Former Vice President was also recently questioned by the ACC and the police for leasing an island for resort development in a way that could open up for corruption.

A signed and fingerprinted statement has been taken from Adheeb at all the questionings.

The Police have completed an investigation that implicates the former Vice President Adheeb in bribing the Police and sent the case to PG.
