White alert issued to Thaa and Laamu Atoll

National Meteorological Center (NMC) has issued white alerts to the central atolls, Thaa and Laamu expecting bad weather.

The alert issued by the NMC says that the alert is being issued for the duration of 11:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Talking to Sun Media, an official from the NMC said that heavy showers are expected for Thaa and Laamu atoll due to dense clouds over the atolls.

And while strong winds are expected to the region between Raa and Meemu atoll, scattered showers are expected in the Malé area.

The NMC said that rain is expected in the north and central atolls of the country and thunder storms are expected to some islands. And thunder storms are possible in the southern atolls as well.

Winds are expected between 15 - 25 miles an hour in the north and central atolls and 15 miles in the south and are expected to pick up to 40 miles an hour during showers.
