Thinandhoo Islamic Center to be built on a different land

The Islamic Center to be built in G.Dh. Thinadhoo has been relocated to a different land.

The decision was made after meeting held by the Thinadhoo Island Council with the people of the island after a historical site was discovered on the originally designated land for the Islamic Center.

President of the Thinadhoo Island Council, Ahmed Naseer told Sun Media today that they conducted a meeting with the people of the island last night and discussed the Government’s proposals.

“When asked for a vote to relocate the Islamic Center, the people at the meeting decided that they want to relocate it, as the government wants it.” Naseer said.

He said that they have decided to build the Islamic Center on the land for the Youth Center after discussing with the people. Naseer said that the Government delegation that came to investigate the historical site is also happy with the new land.

“A land to build the Youth Center, there is a land for a mosque in the area as well. Then the Council is thinking of building a Youth Center on the land for the mosque. And on the land for the Youth Center, build the Islamic Center.” President of the Thinadhoo Council said.

He said that they plan to propose the Housing Ministry to develop the old land for the Islamic Center as a historical site.

The government has sent a team to make a decision after a historical site was discovered on the land to build an Islamic Center.
