Government to bring bomb sniffing dogs

The government has decided to bring in dogs capable of sniffing out bombs and other explosives.

In an interview with DhiTV, Home Minister Umar Naseer said that they have decided to bring 16 dogs, including those capable of detecting explosives, within the year.

“Dogs that can detect and find explosives and those that can smell explosives would come.” Home Minister Umar Naseer said.

The dogs now being used in drug operations were brought in last year. A team from the Police has trained abroad in using them on the field.

Home Minister Umar said that a team from the Police would be sent abroad this year as well to train in using dogs.

He said that the Police have conducted successful operations with the dogs and so has strengthened the police work.

Minister Umar Naseer said that efforts from the past two years have reduced the amount of illegal drugs that come into the country but it is still a small victory. He said that it would take about 15 years to find a solution to the drug problem.
