India beats Maldives to reach final

India has won the first semi-final match by 2-3 against Maldives and secured a spot in the final in the ongoing South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Suzuki Cup in Trivandrum, India.

This is the fifth time Maldives had to face India at the semi-final stage in the SAFF Championship. Six-time winner India also beat Maldives to reach the final in 2013.

The first goal by India came in the 24th minute by Sunil Chhetri, while the second came in the 34th minute by Jeje Lalapekhula.

Maldives scored one goal in the first half, which came in the 45th minute by Ahmed Nashid.

There were two goals in the second half, one in the 66th minute by India’s Jeje Lalapekhula and one in the 75th minute by Maldives’ Amdhan Ali.

India’s opponent in the final will be decided in the Afghanistan-Sri Lanka semi-final match, scheduled to kick-off at 6:30 p.m.
