6 testify in Nazim appeal hearing

Six more people have testified in former Defense Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim’s appeal hearing on Thursday.

Judges heard testimony from two individuals during the previous hearing.

Two on Nazim’s bodyguards and two of his drivers testified on behalf of him. Additional testimony was provided by Police Chief Inspector Ushamath Mohamed – who prepared the report on fingerprint found from Nazim’s apartment, and Chief Inspector Ahmed Muslih – who testified on how the SWAT team carried out their operation.

Those who testified on behalf of Nazim said that his apartment was frequented not just by him and his family – but by others too.

The witnesses also testified that the key to Nazim’s apartment was kept inside his car when he was out of town or in his office. And that the key to his car was kept in an unlocked drawer in his office.

Ushamath said that fingerprint found in items found in Nazim’s apartment did not match Nazim or any member of his family or anyone in the police database.

Next hearing is to be held in January.
