President Yamin: Bridge is the cornerstone of the development of the Maldivian economy

President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom has said that the Bridge between Malé and Hulhulé is the cornerstone in the work to change the Maldivian economy.

Speaking at the inauguration of the construction of the bridge held at Dharubaaruge tonight, President Yamin said that the government is doing numerous works to develop the economy of the country.

“The work we do work to transform the economy. Even through the bridge. Through an airport. Even if it’s work to bring in more tourists, through SEZ and through long term leases of land, all of this workings is working to transform the economy.” President Yamin said.

The President said that after the bridge is completed after two or three years, the whole country would be changed.

“After the bridge is complete, two or three years later, with God’s will an international airport we want to see would be there. With that, we can’t imagine how the landscape of the country would change.” President Yamin said.

President Yamin said that the bridge would represent the relationship between a small and a large country. He said that changes would come to the country due to the bridge and that changes would occur on the social image of the country.

“Due to the bridge, the Maldivian people would be happy, especially the youth and as a result, good changes would come to the social image of the Maldives.” Preisdent Abdulla Yamin said.
