Government institute, Special Economic Zone Maldives established

President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom has created a government institute by the name, Special Economic Zone Maldives.

The President’s Office said that the institute established under the Ministry of Economic Development was created to assist the Board of Investment formed under the Law of Special Economic Zone.

The work of the Secretariat Office of the Special Economic Zone Maldives include researching, gathering information and statistics for the decisions to be made by the Board of Investment and implement the decisions made by the board while conducting and coordinating the technical committee with the board.

It also includes administrative work, keeping the minutes of the meetings of the Board of Investment and notifying the relevant authorities and institutes about the decisions made by the board.

Special Economic Zone Maldives would also be assisting the Board of Investment on implementing the regulations under the Law of Special Economic Zone.
