Ferry sinks after crashing onto the outer seawall of Nolhivarum

A ferry has sunk after crashing onto the outer seawall of H.Dh. Nolhivarum while attempting to enter the harbor.

Vice President of the Nolhivarum Island Council, Abdulla Shareef said that it a ferry boat from the island that crash onto the seawall and sank while entering harbor and there were four men on board at the time.

While the ferry has now been pulled into the island lagoon, the people of the island are working to refloat the vessel. Councilman Shareef said that the people of the island have been a major support in the process.

“We have requested help from MNDF and the Police as well. So far there have been no response.” Shareef said.

Photos received by Sun Media shows just a part of the boat’s upper deck and the bow stem above the water.
