Over 24 hours without electricity in Naifaru

An official from Lh. Naifaru Powerhouse has said that the island has been without electricity since Wednesday afternoon.

The official said that electricity was cut off due to problems that arose while streetlamps were being kept on the streets of the island.

“LGA [Local Government Authority] street lamp project is being carried out. The usually call us before they do. But yesterday they did not, and put the earth rod on top of a high voltage cable. And the cable broke,” said the official.

A team of officials from Fenaka are currently in the island working on solving the problem.

Naifaru Powerhouse says the problem will be solved, and electricity restored to the island within the next four hours.
