Ooredoo to install submarine cable across the Maldives

Telecommunication Company, Ooredoo has decided to install submarine cable to the Maldives to elevate the internet service in the country.

A 12,000 kilometer long cable across the entire country would be installed in this project that would be conducted with the Chinese telecom giant Huawei.

The project was officially inaugurated at a special ceremony held at Hotel Jen tonight by the Home Minister Umar Naseer and the CEO of Ooredoo Maldives, Vikram Sinha along with the heads of Huawei Company.

CEO of Ooredoo Maldives Vikram Sinha said that the internet service through submarine cable is an absolute necessity in the Maldives now.

He said that the project would be completed in 2016.
