Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has said that President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom’s economic plan is fortunate thing for the country like never before and the people who are envious of it are trying to drown the people into a political tide.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new logo of the “Expo Maldives” at TVM tonight, an expo of local artisans returning after a 12 year gap, Minister Saeed said that it’s time the people be free of the political traps set by those who are envious of the Government. The Economic Minister said that the Maldivian people have to work to make President Yameen’s economic plans a success and it is a fortune that the country would never have again.
“President Yamin’s currently proposed economic plan to the people is fortune that the country has not seen before. We are sad that so many are envious of this. The Maldivian people have to be free of the traps set by those to set the people against us and really drown the entire country in a political tide. And without doubt, work behind the government and make this economic plan a success. The reason for that is, this fortune, the Maldivian people would never have again.” Economic Minister Saeed said.
Minister Saeed said that there is no country that can compete with the Maldives for beauty in the tourism sector and that is why the country has reached the top level of global tourism.
“Today our industry is lacking local products that the tourists want to take out their wallets and buy. To do this, with the President’s initiative, we have made it so that foreigners cannot take part in the souvenir sales.” Minister Saeed said.
The Economic Ministry said that only locals can take part in the Expo Maldives. From local technological products to cultural products would be exhibited at the expo.
The deadline to take part in the Expo is December 1. Expo Maldives would be held from 22 – 28 December at Dharubaaruge.
