Committee approves Dr Hala Hameed as Permanent Rep to UN in Geneva

The Parliamentary Committee on National Security has approved the appointment by President Abdulla Yameen of Dr Hala Hameed as the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations (UN) Office in Geneva.

Dr Hala Hameed served several years at the President’s Office prior to being appointed as Vice President of Police Integrity Commission, from which she resigned in 2013.

She was transferred from the post of Minister of State for Law and Gender to Additional Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in September 2015.

Her last post before the appointment as the Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva was Ambassador-at-Large at Ministry of Foreign Affairs at state minister level.
