Nihan: Adheeb

Leader of the PPM Parliamentary Group and MP for the Villi-Malé constituency, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has said that the Vice President Ahmed Adheeb’s impeachment was a victory to the country.

Speaking to the press outside the Parliament after the impeachment vote, MP Nihan said that no matter who comes to meddle with the country, they would not succeed.

He said that those who come to meddle with the country has been justly punished in the past as well and they would be punished this time as well.

“I want to point out, when the two children of Hassan Thaajuddeen betrayed the country what happened to them through the people as our history shows, to this day, they are downed in a specific area of Gaadhookolu.” MP Nihan said.

Nihan said that the Maldivian people will not recognize a treasonous person no matter his rank or position. He said that the hard work by the joint Parliamentary Group (the Parliamentary Groups of PPM, MDA and JP) at the Parliament today was for the sake of the country.

Vice President Adheeb was impeached today by the unanimous vote of the 61 MP that took part in the vote.

The resolution to impeach the Vice President was brought to the Parliament by the MP for the Fonadhoo constituency, Abdul-Raheem Abdulla. He said that the case was brought to the Parliament because Adheeb was not fulfilling his responsibilities and since he is arrested, he cannot attend to his responsibilities any further.
