PPM supports the declaration of the State of Emergency

PPM has shown support to the 30-day State of Emergency declared by President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom today.

A statement issued by the party today sent gratitude to President Yamin for the strong steps being taken to ensure national security.

The statement said that PPM would provide all necessary support to the President and all relevant authorities to climb out of the current state of the country.

The party called to their members and all Maldivians to remain calm and fully cooperate the sincere work by the relevant authorities to resolve the situation.

The 30-day state of emergency was declared following the confirmed threat of an imminent attack using weapons and explosives. The president said in the declaration that this poses a threat to public safety.

The resolution by the President today said that all weapons that security forces have knowledge of, have not been found.
