Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been given the land under the Health Ministry to build quarantine facility in Hulhumalé.
At a special ceremony held at the Health Ministry, the Health Minister Iruthisham Adam signed the agreement to award the land on behalf of the Ministry. HDC was represented on the agreement by the Managing Director of the Company, Mohamed Saiman.
Speaking at the ceremony, Health Minister Iruthisham said that the quarantine facility being built in Hulhumalé is something that the country must have right now.
She said that the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is set to spend USD 4.2 million to build the facility. And another USD 200,000 is to be spent from the Government budget.
While the construction of the facility is set to begin next month, HDC has a one year duration to complete the project.
Minister said that special laboratories would be established in the facility for different investigations. Health Ministry says that the quarantine facility in Hulhumalé would be built to the international standard.
