Met Office: Earthquake not felt in Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has said that the strong earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan on Monday, was not felt in the Maldives.

A Met Office official confirmed that Maldives was not affected by the earthquake in any way.

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake in northern Afghanistan was felt across much of South Asia, shaking buildings from Kabul to Delhi and cutting power and communications in some areas.

The number of casualties is yet unclear.
