Majority Leader at the Parliament, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has said he won’t trust a person if the President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom say he does not trust someone even if it is the Vice President Adheeb and that there is no point in President making statements saying that he trust someone.
At an interview from Sosun Villa, the MP for Vilimalé constituency, Nihan, who is currently in Colombo on a personal visit, said that after the attack of the explosion on board the Presidential Launch, it won’t be easy for President Yamin to trust anyone.
“Who would the President trust? That is the question that’s been created. After the Presidential Launch exploded, after experiencing it on first hand, who would the President trust, and make a statement saying I trust a specific person.” MP Nihan said.
He said that the President is standing strong to complete a fast and transparent investigation.
Speaking further, MP Nihan said that he would trust whomever the President trusts. And said that he has not told President Yamin to make the current Vice President Ahmed Adheeb the president and if President Yamin decides that he does not trust Adheeb to be the Vice President, he would strongly support it.
“This is not something related to our trust in the current Vice President. This is something sustained on the President’s trust. That is, even if tomorrow morning, from the minute I know the President has lost the trust, that person would not have my trust. That not just Adheeb, even if it’s anyone.” MP Nihaan said.
Nihan has said at a time where rumors are flying about several close people to the Government and Vice President Adheeb being connected to the explosion on board the Presidential Launch on 28 September.
Noting that an innocent person would have nothing to hide or anywhere to run to be free, he said called to anyone that the National Inquiry Committee summons to answer truthfully.
