Working with the Maldives Customs, Maldives Polcie Service has found a dangerous illegal drug new to the Maldives.
Speaking at a press briefing at Iskandharu Koshi today, Head of the Drug Enforcement Department of the Police, Superintendent Ahmed Shifan said that the drug named “Flakka drugs” was found with the help of “Faaragema” (K9 Unit) while being smuggled it through the airport.
The drugs were found inside a bag of a Bangladeshi national who arrived in the Maldives from the Sri Lankan route.
A total of 200 grams of the flakka drugs were found from the man. The drug is so dangerous that the Americans call it Zombie. Superintendent Shifan said that when the drug is used, one’s bones become weak and unlike other drugs, overdose on flakka would lead to death.
“Crystal Meth or drugs made with dangerous chemicals has very destructive side effects to humans.” Superintendent Shifan said.
Superintendent Shifan said that aside from that, a Thai woman was arrested on 9 October with 2.5 kilograms of cocaine. He said that the woman came from Brazil and the package was made to deliver to several countries.
Superintendent Shifan said that they have been observing the Thailand network previously as well. He said that working with the security forces in Thailand, two Pakistani nationals involved in the case have been arrested Nigeria.
